Arthroscopic Bankart Repair

This arthroscopic procedure is used to repair a detached labrum. The labrum is a thick band of cartilage attached to the glenoid. It lines the shoulder socket and helps keep the ball of the humerus in place.

Arthroscopic Bankart repair is commonly performed to treat labrum damage caused by shoulder dislocation. When the humeral head slips out of the socket, it can tear the labrum and cause a Hill-Sachs lesion, a compression fracture of the humeral head. This procedure may also be recommended for patients with glenoid labrum tears that contribute to ongoing shoulder instability.
