Patients Completes 60-Mile Breast Cancer Walk
Debbie St. John Completes Her Third Annual Susan G. Komen Walk and Raises Almost $3,000
Calling Dr. Mary J. Albert and her staff at Resurgens Orthopaedics in Lawrenceville “rock stars,” patient Debbie St. John credits them with getting her in shape for the Susan G. Komen 3-day walk in October to raise money for breast cancer research.
“Thanks to Dr. Albert and her posse, I was able to complete my third Susan G. Komen 60-mile 3-Day walk this year,” St. John says, crediting her treatment at Resurgens for enabling her to raise almost $3,000 during the 2011 walk.
“It was important to me to be able to walk the entire 60 miles. It’s something I really believe in doing,” St. John says of her fund-raising effort. “Dr. Albert fixed my knee and allowed me to participate in this very worthy and moving event,” she said.
St. John’s husband was a patient of Dr. Albert, so she called Resurgens when she began having knee pain. Now, her enthusiasm for the practice is boundless. “I cannot believe how many of my coworkers know and love Dr. Albert and her staff. I feel like a groupie when I talk about her and her fabulous staff with my friends,” St. John says.

St. John first turned to Dr. Albert in 2010 when she began training for her second walk and found her knee wasn’t up for walking the distance. A Cortisone injection enabled St. John to take part in the 2010 event, and she scheduled surgery afterwards to repair a small tear in the meniscus. Following the surgery in June, she participated in the 2011 walk in October “with no problem whatsoever.”
Dr. Albert’s areas of expertise include orthopaedic traumatology and total joint replacement. She is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the National Board of Medical Examiners. She completed medical school and her residency at the University of Wisconsin. She completed fellowships in orthopaedic traumatology at Emory University/Grady Memorial Hospital and at the AO/ASIF Trauma Fellowship program in Munich Germany.
