Patient Returns to Active Lifestyle After 10 Years of Suffering

After intensifying shoulder pain made daily activities like adjusting the rearview mirror in his car an excruciating task, Atlanta resident Kurt Morris doubted that he could return to the very active lifestyle he once enjoyed as a lifelong sports and exercise enthusiast. Since undergoing a successful humeral head resurfacing surgery performed by Resurgens Orthopaedics surgeon Dr. Evander Fogle, Morris is back in action, defying even his own expectations.

Morris’ passion for healthy and active living was evident from an early age.  He maintained a regular schedule of workouts and recreational sports activities as he started a family and began a career in the banking industry. It wasn’t until Morris began experiencing severe osteoarthritis in his right shoulder that he found himself unexpectedly on the sidelines.

Morris endured intense pain and stiffness in his shoulder for nearly 10 years due to his osteoarthritis.  He was unable to throw baseballs with his young boy who was a budding baseball player.  After repetitively receiving medical advice that would have put a stop to his active lifestyle, Morris' hope was fading.

Finally, after his condition drastically worsened, Morris found his way to Dr. Fogle at the Resurgens Orthopaedics St. Joseph’s office.

“The outcome of the surgery has far exceeded even my wildest expectations”

During his first visit, Dr. Fogle presented Morris with several treatment plans that would enable him to resume his active lifestyle. “He took great time and care to examine me and carefully explain the different options I had for treatment. For the first time in years, I felt hopeful that I could return to doing what I love without constant pain and discomfort,” explained Morris. Just a few short weeks later, Dr. Fogle performed the humeral head resurfacing procedure that Mr. Morris so badly needed.

Following the surgery, Morris demonstrated his athletic prowess as he completed three months of physical therapy led by Resurgens therapist Shannon Marshall. As his therapy progressed, he experienced significantly increased range of motion and relief from the constant shoulder pain that he had suffered for so long prior to his surgery. Now, Morris is back on the baseball field throwing painlessly and happily in his home gym, even taking on CrossFit-style training sessions with his son at least four times per week.

Morris credits Dr. Fogle and the entire Resurgens team with allowing him to regain the life he feared was no longer possible. “The outcome of the surgery has far exceeded even my wildest expectations,” he said.  “The level of care and compassion I received from Dr. Fogle and his team throughout this entire experience has given me my life back. I couldn’t be more grateful.”  Morris resides with his family in Suwanee, Georgia.
