David H. Ge, MD

Philosophy of Care

"My philosophy is that we treat the whole person and the whole family—it takes a village, and I consider myself part of yours. I listen before I recommend: your goals—returning to a sport, keeping up with your kids, or simply moving without pain—drive the treatment plan, not the other way around."

About

For Dr. Ge, caring for a patient starts with seeing the person—not just the injury. He understands that an injury can disrupt the activities, goals and responsibilities that make life meaningful. His approach is simple: listen carefully, understand what matters most to each patient and build a thoughtful plan to help them get back to it.

Dr. Ge believes patients deserve to feel informed, heard and supported throughout their care. He and his team prioritize clear communication, attention to detail and making sure every patient understands their diagnosis, options and next steps. Whether surgery is the right answer or not, his recommendations are guided by the same question he would ask for his own family: What is truly best for this person?

With the ability to care for patients of all ages, Dr. Ge brings both advanced training and a personal approach to every patient relationship. For him, being trusted with someone's care is a privilege and his goal is to help each patient return to doing what they love, stronger and more confident than before.

Outside of Work

Dr. Ge is an avid athlete and adventurer who loves challenging himself both on and off the mountain. He has stood atop Denali, trekked to Everest Base Camp, skied across the Rockies, Canada, Japan and the Alps and completed a 50K trail ultramarathon and the 60-hour Spartan Agoge endurance challenge. He is also an advanced-certified scuba diver and kiteboarder and enjoys exploring new trails, cooking and playing pickleball.

Being an athlete himself gives Dr. Ge a personal understanding of what it means to be sidelined by an injury, and how meaningful it is to get back to the activities you love. These days, some of his favorite adventures are closer to home, exploring with his wife and their dog.

Experience in Orthopedic Surgery

Dr. Ge has built his orthopedic training with a clear goal: to provide advanced sports medicine care for patients of all ages. He completed two full fellowships—first in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and then in adult sports medicine at Duke University—giving him a unique depth of training across both growing and adult patients.

His practice focuses on complex sports injuries and joint preservation, with particular expertise in hip arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, cartilage restoration, meniscal transplantation and patellar instability. He is especially drawn to challenging cases including revision surgery and complex cartilage problems where treatment must be carefully individualized. His goal is not simply to address the visible injury but to understand and treat its underlying cause.

Dr. Ge takes a thoughtful, evidence-based approach to modern orthopedic surgery. He uses advanced techniques and technology when they offer meaningful benefits for patients while focusing on preserving healthy tissue and restoring function. Ultimately, he believes excellent orthopedic care requires understanding the whole joint, staying current with the evidence and developing a treatment plan around the individual patient.
