Experience in Orthopedic Surgery

Dr. Claps' passion for orthopedics was sparked during his medical training, particularly after completing a research fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, a leading orthopedic hospital. Following his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a fellowship in adult joint reconstruction at Wake Forest University, Dr. Claps brought robotic-assisted surgery into his practice early in his career and has seen great results for his patients.

As a Fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the Director of the Robotic Center of Excellence for Hip and Knee Replacement at Piedmont Fayette, Dr. Claps continues to advance the field of robotic-assisted joint replacement. A recognized leader in his field, physicians regularly visit to learn robotic and muscle-sparing techniques from him. Dr. Claps offers innovative techniques, including quadricep-sparing approaches for total knee replacement, a unique factor that sets him apart and leads to improved recovery and decreased pain after surgery.
