Dr. Douglas W. Lundy Named Chair of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeon's Medical Liability Committee

Resurgens Orthopaedics surgeon Douglas W. Lundy, MD, FACS, was recently selected as chair of the Medical Liability Committee for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). In that role, he will also serve on the organization's Council on Advocacy.

"Working with the AAOS has been a wonderful opportunity, and I am honored to serve as Chair of the Medical Liability Committee," Dr. Lundy said. 

In addition to serving as head of the Medical Liability Committee, Dr. Lundy is a contributing editor to AAOS Now and edits articles related to orthopaedic risk management.

According to the AAOS web site, the Medical Liability Committee (formerly the Professional Liability Committee) "annually reviews closed orthopaedic liability claims to determine trends in professional liability and opportunities for AAOS fellows to implement risk management and mitigation techniques in their clinical practices."

An orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in trauma surgery and fracture/fracture reconstructive surgery, Dr. Lundy practices at Resurgens offices in Marietta and Roswell. He is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He completed his residency at Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta and his fellowship in orthopaedic trauma/foot and ankle at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Dr. Lundy is the Legislative Chairman for the Georgia Orthopaedic Society Board of Directors, a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association where he serves as the Georgia Delegate to the House of Representatives, and was on the 2008 Medical Association of Georgia Council on Legislation Trauma Task Force.
