As you may have seen from news sources, the CDC has identified a cluster of fungal meningitis cases stemming from epidural steroid injections used to treat back pain. The outbreak thus far has been traced to 5 states – Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Florida. It has been reported that the CDC and health officials have linked the outbreak to a Massachusetts compounding pharmacy that distributes the steroid injection medicine. We have confirmed that Resurgens Orthopaedics and its facilities have not ordered or used this steroid compound from the pharmacy in question.
While we have confirmed that our facilities are not linked to the suspected cause of the outbreak, we understand that our patients are very concerned about this news and we want to make every effort to address your questions or concerns in a timely manner. Please feel free to contact your Resurgens physician with your specific questions or concerns.
