Dr. Scott A. Kelly Named One of 70 Best Pain Management Physicians in the Nation

Resurgens Orthopaedics physician Dr. Scott A. Kelly was named to the list of 70 of the Best Pain Management Physicians in America this month by Becker’s Orthopedic & Spine Review, a national orthopaedics publication.

Dr. Kelly, a physiatrist, is co-medical director of the Resurgens Spine Center. He practices at the Morrow and Griffin offices of Resurgens, Georgia’s largest orthopaedic practice. A physiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in non-surgical management and treatment of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular system.

Dr. Kay Kirkpatrick, co-president of Resurgens, said the choice of Dr. Kelly was a great honor, both for him individually and for Resurgens. “Becker’s is among the most respected publications in our field, and we are proud to have one of our physicians included on this list,” she said.

Becker’s is a bimonthly national publication offering news and analysis on business and legal issues relating to orthopaedic and spine practices.

In listing the top pain management physicians, the publication noted that the listed physicians were selected based on the awards they received from major organizations in the field, leadership in those organizations, work on professional publications, and positions of service held at hospitals and surgery centers.

Dr. Kelly said he is honored to be included on the Becker’s list.

“I was thrilled to be included among a group of such distinguished physicians,” he said. “I want to thank the leadership at Resurgens for giving me the opportunity to help my patients alleviate their pain, restore their hope, and regain their function.”

Dr. Kelly’s areas of expertise include physical medicine and rehabilitation, non-operative spine care and spinal injections, and electrodiagnostic medicine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a member of its sports medicine and neurophysiology special interest groups. He earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and completed his residency at the Emory University in Atlanta.
